Set foot inside of any grocery store in Ireland the Thursday before Good Friday and you’re in for a bit of entertainment. There’s a sense of urgency, a rush to the alcohol aisle to stock up on more drink than anyone could possibly carry unassisted.
Don’t lie. We know you’ve participated. We most definitely have.
It happens every year, the mad dash to stock up on drink, and every year we convince ourselves we really do need that extra bottle or two, just in case.
What to do with the stockpile?
Surely this year will be the same as all the rest. But what will do when the desire for a cocktail overwhelms you?
Logically, you’ll have bought at least one bottle of vodka (because, sure why not?) But this year, thanks to the bar staff at Rustic Stone, you’ll be able to make your very own Rustic Stone inspired cocktail- the Gooseberry and Elderflower Crush. It’s refreshing,. It’s sweet and tangy. Best of all, it’s easy to make.
What you’ll need:
Sparkling Water (optional)
How To Do It:
You’ll need to empty the jam into a new container so you can use the jar itself as your shaker.
Combine 1 shot of vodka, 1/2 a shot of elderflower cordial and 1/2 a shot of lemon juice and 2 teaspoons of jam into the jar. (That’s 35mils vodka, 15mils cordial, 15mils lemon juice, to be exact.)
Tighten the lid, and make sure you get it on the right track or you’ll end up sticky. Shake it hard. And then shake it a little bit more.
Top with crushed ice (or ice that you’ve smashed to smithereens) and a slice of lemon, just for looks.
